Two-thirds of our population fully vaccinated by National Day.

That’s the target set by the Multi-Ministry Taskforce today.

Vaccination is a crucial strategy for us to live with endemic COVID-19. We can’t eradicate an endemic virus, but we can manage it just like we do with the common flu.

Vaccines reduce your chances of getting COVID-19, even though they do not completely prevent infection. And if you do get infected, vaccines protect you from becoming very ill, and needing oxygen or ICU care.

Once more people are vaccinated, we can ease COVID-19 restrictions and open up further.

Having secured more vaccine supplies, we are speeding up the pace of vaccinations substantially. Please get your jabs as soon as possible, to protect yourself and your loved ones.

Gan Kim Yong, Lawrence Wong and Ong Ye Kung wrote an op-ed in the Straits Times today to outline our road map forward as we learn to live with COVID-19 (https://str.sg/34C4).

Let’s all play our part, so that come 9 August, we can hit that target and celebrate our nation’s birthday with pride and joy. – LHL
